Treatment Procedure
1. A thorough Examination
The first step of dental implant therapy is a discussion with your dentist, followed by a thorough dental examination. The jaw is x-rayed and to check the condition of the bone tissue and to determine the placement of the dental implant. An impression of made of the jaw and existing teeth, forming an important platform for the treatment.
2. Inserting the dental implants
There are two options for dental implant placement, depending on your clinical situation. In a single-stage procedure, the dental implants are placed and temporary abutments are attached. For a two-stage procedure, the dental implants are inserted, covered by gum tissue, and left to heal. Depending on the bone condition, the prosthesis can be attached the same day the implant is placed.
3. Attaching the abutments
Once the implants have fully integrated with the bone tissues, in a single-stage procedure, the final (or permanent) abutments are placed and an impression is taken from which a dental technician will create a prosthesis that will match your natural teeth in shape and color. For a two-stage procedure, a second surgery is required to reveal the dental implants and place the final abutments.
4. Fitting and re-examination
When the prosthesis is ready, your dentist simply attaches it to the dental implants. This is usually followed by a few follow-up visits to check functionality and esthetics.
1. If you have lost all of your teeth in one or both jaws, you can choose a permanently anchored dental implant bridge or a removable prosthesis that is connected to two or more dental implants, called an overdenture. This type of overdenture stays in place more firmly than a conventional denture and eliminates the need for messy adhesives.
2. For a permanently anchored dental implant bridge, several dental implants are placed to form a good foundation. Because the dental implants are anchored in the jawbone, they stimulate the bone tissue and help to maintain healthy bone levels and facial structures. An overdenture involves placing two or more dental implants that will be used as a secure foundation to attach the prosthesis.
3. The abutments are attached to the dental implants and the bridge is fitted in place. For the overdenture, either ball abutments or a small bar between the abutments are used. The prosthesis is fitted with corresponding devices underneath.
4. The implant-supported bridge or overdenture is put in place. The implants provide a strong foundation to support the prosthesis and hold it securely in place.

Are you unhappy with your smile? If so, Dr. Martowski can help! While traditional dentistry focuses on oral hygiene and preventing, diagnosing and treating oral disease, cosmetic dentistry focuses on improving the appearance of a person's teeth, mouth and smile. Since Cosmetic procedures are optional dentistry, usually not covered by dental insurance, many patients think that they can not afford to spend the money to improve their smile. What they do not realize is that while many cosmetic procedures such as dental implants can be costly, there are other simple procedures available that are less expensive & can do wonders to improve your smile!
Just a few of the many cosmetic & restorative procedures that Dr. Martowski offers includes:
•Teeth Whitening: Teeth whitening is perhaps the most commonly recommended cosmetic dentistry procedure. Teeth are often stained from smoking, food, drink (coffee, tea or red wine) or poor oral hygiene. Bleaching the teeth can enhance the appearance of your smile.
•Dental Veneers: Composite or porcelain laminates that are adhesively bonded to the surface of a tooth to correct and repair chips and cracks will improve a worn appearance or severe tooth discoloration. Veneers may also be recommended if you have gaps in your teeth or if you have not had success with teeth whitening.
•Dental Implants: Dental implants are artificial tooth root replacements that are used as a part of prosthetic (artificial replacement) dentistry in order to compensate for tooth loss. Often the result is not only an enhanced smile, but also a more youthful appearance, since missing teeth cause the face to collapse, making you look older.
•Smile Makeover: Smile makeovers involve a comprehensive assessment of your smile esthetics in order to improve its overall appearance. Typically one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures, such as dental veneers, dental implants, gingival sculpting and teeth whitening, will be required for several teeth in both the upper and lower arches in order to achieve the look you want.
•Full mouth reconstruction: While consulting with you about a smile makeover to primarily improve the esthetic appearance of your smile, your dentist may discover that there is a need to provide necessary treatment to correct functional problems with your bite, muscles, teeth and bone structure. If you need full mouth reconstruction, the materials available today make it possible for your dentist to provide you with durable, functional and clinically sound treatments that also look natural.
